Hello there and welcome back for Day 2 of Power Poppy's Happiest Holiday 2018 stamp release! Today's set features some beautiful images that can be used for two step stamping, border stamping, or a single image stamp....you choose! :) So say hello to Let Your Heart Be Light....
Soooo, I decided to get outside my Copic comfort zone and try out my woefully neglected Polychromos colored pencils for this image. I chose to stamp a single image and one of the darling sentiments from this set.....oh my word, that font! :) I stamped my image with Memento's Rich Cocoa ink and proceeded to experiment with my pencils. I will list the colors I used below. It took a while but mostly because I was trying to familiarize myself with the colors I have. It is definitely a lot different from my Copics, but not quite as scary as I worried it might be...overall, I really like the pencils but I do think I need more practice to feel comfortable using them. My card is just a few simple layers because I wanted this glorious image to be front and center! This card measures 3 1/4" x 4 1/2".
Isn't this the dreamiest little poinsettia and holly image? Marcella always knows just how to make our little crafty coloring hearts go pitter patter, doesn't she? As always, her details are amazing and this is a really fun color up!
So that is all for my card today, but my Bloomie sisters have some amazing cards to tempt and inspire you so make sure you check them out and leave a little blog love while you are there. Also make sure to check out the Power Poppy blog for Marcella's post on this lovely new stamp set. I thank you so much for stopping by today, and hope to see you back tomorrow for Day 3 of Power Poppy's Happiest Holiday 2018 stamp release. Until then, take care!

The dark background is soooo dramatic!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh, I like it! That sentiment, your pencil coloring, your card design -- gorgeous! I'd probably make a mess of that background, but you did great. It all looks wonderful, Katie!
ReplyDeleteLove the way bg made to pop up the colored image!
ReplyDeleteJust ... wow! I love the soft colored pencil look you've so masterfully displayed! That background in shaded black is amazing and just makes the whole thing POP! Stunning!
ReplyDeleteKatie, I love your card...the design, layout, and beautiful coloring!! The diminutive size just makes it even more darling! The pencil coloring is amazing!!

ReplyDeleteVery pretty. Love the poinsettias.
ReplyDeleteNow this is awesome.. Who would of thought to do dark rich colors, this is awesome. I like all of this.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this card! It is really beautiful! I just have one question: You say the card measures 3 1/4" by 4 1/2 ". That is really small. Especially the 3 1/4". Is this possibly a mistake? I am considering getting the stamp, but if it is too small to color in well, I will have to pass on it. Also, do your dimensions include the black background or is it measured in some other way. I'd love to hear back from you. You are a talented card maker! Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Claudia
ReplyDeleteHi Claudia! Thank you so much for your visit and kind comments! Yes, the measurements are correct for this card. I do like to make some small cards for different uses...this one is made from a scalloped rectangle die. I did go ahead and measure the image panel and it measures approximately 2 3/4" x 4". I also measured the poinsettia bloom by itself and it measures approximately 1 3/8" x 1 1/8". I hope this helps! Thank you again for your lovely comments. :)
