It's a Power Poppy Friday!

Well hello there and a happy Friday to you!  Wow, it has been a little while since I last posted and I am so excited to have had a little crafty time to play along in today's Power Poppy Friday.  I have been itching to give August's Power & Spark Challenge hosted by the super sweet and incredibly talented Cindy Lawrence a try.....who can resist playing when the theme is Shabby Chic?!  I chose to use the peony image from the Dynamic Duos: Peonies & Tulips set.  The sentiment is from the Poppies set.

I know everyone probably views Shabby Chic in their own way....for me, I think of soft colors, lots of distressed layers, sweet patterns, and of course....ribbons, buttons, and any other little doo dads I can fit on there.....;)  For this card, I stamped my peonies using Memento's Tuxedo Black ink on to some Papertrey Ink Vintage White card stock.  I colored it up with Copics, fussy cut it out, and then set it aside.  I die cut several layers and used a trimmer for a couple more layers, sanded the edges, used some Chamomile ink from PTI to distress the edges and started stitching panels together.  For my sentiment panel, I sponged on some Ranger Distress ink in Old Paper after stamping my sentiment.  Next, I punched a couple of holes in the sides to thread my ribbon through, wrapped it around my assembled layers and tied a bow.  Finally, I adhered my peonies with foam dimensionals, added some shimmer with my Wink of Stella Clear brush pen, added a button tied on with cream and silver thread and adhered the assembly onto my scalloped square card base.

Those fluffy peonies are the epitome of Shabby Chic if you ask me!  :)  I used three different Copic red families (one for each peony) to give them a little variety, although I am not sure if you can really see much of a difference in the photos.  I am still constantly amazed at the amount of detail Marcella manages to get into each of her images....AND they are always a dream to color up!

So that is all for my little Shabby Chic card today but some of my amazing Bloomie sisters have some paper gorgeousness for your crafty inspiration, so make sure you check them out and leave a little blog love while you're there.  I am so glad you were able to stop by for a visit....it's always good to see you!  I hope you'll pop by again soon....until then, take care.  :)

It's a Power Poppy Friday & A New Digital Release!

Hello there everybody and a very happy Friday to you!  I hope you have had an awesome week!  Boy, does Power Poppy have a treat for you today!  Traditionally, those fabulous Instant Gardeners- Power Poppy's Digital Design Team- herald in the latest and greatest digi image hot off of Marcella's desk but since today is a Friday, we thought it would be fun to rally all of the Bloomie troops for one huge blog hop to celebrate the arrival of Bees in Foxglove.  Just take a lookie at this beaut.......

Our newest addition to the Instant Garden Collection just happens to be one that's a tall beauty that's not only colorful but a dramatic beauty. Our newest set, Bees in Foxglove, features three lush stalks of foxglove (Digitalis) with three plump bumblees buzzing around doing their bumblebee thing! Add in a cheery all occasion sentiment and you have one stunning set that is ready to download, print, color and create with!

Have. you. ever?!  Oh, that Marcella has really outdone herself with this lovely image!  You are going to love all of the lovely detail with this image.....for sure!  Let me show you what I created.....

After printing this image out, I decided to crop a portion of it to highlight on this card.  Now, I have to say....the first time I saw this image I could not help but notice that these were absolutely the fuzziest fuzzy wuzzy bees ever....and so totally adorable in their little foxglove scene!  I'll bet they thought they hit the jackpot with these gorgeous blooms!  I colored the image with Copics, die cut it out, sponged on some distress inks, gold leafed it, and layered it with a scalloped square die cut all to show off these blooms and quite possibly the cutest little bee boo-tay of all time.....hee!  So here's a close up.......

The sentiment is from the  Dynamic Duos: Peonies and Tulips stamp set.  O Happy Day, indeed!  Does he not look like he is having a blast doing his little bee thing and takin' care of business?  And Marcella sure gave him plenty of gorgeous blooms to visit!  The rest of the card is a layer of stitched patterned paper on card stock and then the whole assembly is adhered to a square card base.  I added a little Wink of Stella in clear on the bee's wings and the flower centers.  I also used Papertrey Ink's Chai and Chamomile inks to distress my edges.  All of the wonderful shading cues in this image make it a snap to color up and there are several different ways you could crop this image to use just a portion of it for different ways to tuck in a sentiment or if you just want to show off the whole incredible image on one card and really knock someone's socks off then you can do that too!  ;)  This digital image does come with it's own sweet sentiment which I am sure you will be seeing along the hop.

So that's all for my card today but like I mentioned earlier, Marcella has combined the design teams together for this digital release so you have many incredible blogs to visit and see all of the wonderful possibilities for this one image....and after you have been wowed time and again (and I am sure you will with this amazing group of ladies) then you can go make this image your own.....like today....that's right, because this image is available today for you to download and color up your own bees and blooms to your heart's content!   That's the beauty of using a digital image, and if you like this one then check out the entire Power Poppy digital collection available here.  I am so glad you were able to stop by today for a visit and until next time, take care!

Go Big G!

Hi there and Happy Friday!   So, it has been a little while since our last visit...but I am back today to play along in the Power Poppy Challenge with a card to share.  I had a lot of inspiration for this card.  First, did you happen to catch Stacy Morgan's gorgeous creation several days ago.  You can see it here.  She used oranges, but it reminded me of those black and white photos where there is a little something in red and I thought these geraniums would work great.  Second, I don't know if you know this about me, but I am a huge college football  freak!  In particular, I love my Georgia Bulldogs (Go DAWGS!) and so red and black are pretty common colors in this house.  Can you tell that I am ready for the season to begin?  And you thought Big G meant geraniums, right?  ;)

This card is made using several simple layers...some die cut, some cut with a trimmer....all to frame up the real piece de resistance.....the lovely Geraniums image.  Ya'll didn't know I spoke French, did ya?  Ok, I just got a giggle because the thought of me speaking French with my Southern accent....well, it's pretty funny.  Mercy Bo Coops, ya'll.  ;)  Ok, back to business....since I am in such a red and black frame of mind....I thought I would just make my whole card that way!  I used Copics R 20's and Toner Grays and added a little Black 100 for the darkest part of the leaves.  My papers are from My Mind's Eye, and you will have to forgive me, I do not know which 6x6 pad they came from.....they were some scraps I had laying around.  Some stitching, a little die cut tag, a stamped sentiment from the Dynamic Duos: Peonies and Tulips set and some ribbon make a pretty sweet greeting, don't you think?  Good advice for us all...Live a Little!  :)

Here is a close up of Marcella's handiwork....Mercy, I love this image!  She really captured the sweetness of these blooms, don't you think?  So, that is all I have to show you but you really must check out what my fellow team mates have created for you....I am sure it will be a lovely display created just for your inspiration!  Make sure you leave them a little blog love while you are there too!  I am so glad you could stop by today and be checking back soon....I'll have another project to share with you and THEN it will be time for the August Power Poppy Release and can I just say.....you will not want to miss that!  ;)  So until then, take care!

Power Poppy's June Release Day 4

Hi there!  I am so glad you could stop back by today for the final day of the sneak peeks for Power Poppy's June Release!  I hope you have been enjoying all that there has been to see and read....Marcella has really outdone herself this month....not only with jaw dropping beautiful images but also with some pretty spectacular Power Poppy blog posts about the new sets.  You should go check out what all she has been up to this week.  So enough with the chit chat, right?  I'll bet you are ready to see the last stamp set for the week....so here she is....or should I say, here they are....

A duo set....I know, pretty wonderful, right?  Marcella brought back the wildly popular images that were digis last month and now they are available in photopolymer as Dynamic Duos Peonies & Tulips....and to really make your mouth water, she's added new sentiments...eight to be exact!  So let me show you what I made with this fabulous set....

When I saw these wonderful tulips for the first time, one of the ideas I had was to make a card in pinks.  A couple of years ago, I had gone to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens for their Spring Bulb extravaganza they had going on and right at the front entrance was a wave of the most gorgeous tulips I had ever seen....they were a shocking pink...the variety was called "The Cure" and they were planted in honor of those that had been affected by breast cancer.  Ever since then, I have wanted to try to recreate those beautiful blooms.

I started by stamping my image with Tuxedo Black ink onto white card stock.  I will tell you...I colored this image a few times trying to get the color I wanted.  Once colored, I fussy cut the image out and then started on my card.  I used Spellbinder's Radiant Rectangles set....I love all of the intricate layer options it gives you.  I tinkered around with those for a bit and decided to have some layers cut and then emboss the others.  I used a bright pink card stock and sandwiched it in between my layers and the card base to make the border stand out more.  Of course, I could not leave out my trusty Krylon 18KT gold leafing pen...so a couple of the die cuts are edged in gold.  I did sponge a little Ranger Distress ink in Worn Lipstick on my sentiment oval, stamped my sentiment in Stampin' Up!'s Raspberry Ripple and then proceeded to assemble all of my layers.  I added a little pink ribbon  under the sentiment, notching out a little space in the oval so the bow could snuggle up good and close.  Then, when everything was either scor taped or popped up with foam dimensionals, I added my fussy cut tulips.

Don't you just love all of that glorious detail in those tulips?  They were so fun to color and I know I will be using this set many time over.  Here is a little side view so you can see the layers a little better....

Well that is all for my little card.  I hope you enjoyed your visit here, but don't forget to check out what my amazingly talented Bloom Brigade team mates have created for your inspiration.  It will be an incredible floral display, no doubt!  And tune back in tomorrow, because the entire team will be together again for the Power Poppy Blog Hop, and you do not want to miss that!  Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope to see you real soon....like tomorrow!  :)  Until then, take care!
