Happy Power Poppy Friday!

Hi there and a happy Friday to you!  Are you ready for Christmas?  Got all of your shopping done?  I am ready for time with family, but I still have some wrapping to do!  I have a quick little card to share with you today.  No coloring, no die cutting, no buttons......this came together in a snap!  I thought this sweet image from the Heaven and Nature Sing stamp set would be so pretty stamped in red.....and I love how it turned out.

I planned on adding some extras here and there but then changed my mind at the last minute and kept it really clean (for me, anyway).  The finished card is 3.75" square.  I stamped the image and then added the sentiment from the Bottlebrush Holiday stamp set in Memento's Rhubarb Stalk on to Papertrey Ink's Rustic White card stock.  I attached the image panel to a dark grey card stock (PTI's Smokey Shadow) layer and did some stitching around the edges.  Next, I adhered the panel to my card base.  I added some shimmer with a Wink of Stella clear brush pen  to the leaves, berries and parts of the birds and sponged on a little Chamomile ink from Papertrey Ink to give the paper an aged appearance.  Lastly, I added a bit of silver cord and some Ranger Glossy Accents to the berries.

To soften the gray card stock a bit I went back and sponged some Fresh Snow ink from Papertrey Ink.  I wish you could see the gloss and shine here....I really love how it turned out....I just had a hard time trying to capture it in a photo!  I have always loved this image and even though it really is so much fun to color, I have to say that I think this really shows all of Marcella's fine details off beautifully!  Don't you think this could be the most gorgeous fabric?  A Christmas toile in Marcella's images....oh my!  I'm not sure my heart could take it!  ;)

Well that is all for my little card today, but please make sure you check out what some of my Bloomie sisters have created for you.....leave a little blog love while you're there too.  I am so glad you were able to stop by for a visit and here's wishing you the merriest of Christmases!  Until next time, take care!  :)

It's Time for another Power Poppy Friday AND a Special Daily Marker Hop!

Hi there and Happy Friday to you!  Today Power Poppy has teamed up with the incredibly talented Kathy Racoosin for her 30 Day Coloring Challenge!  What's that, you ask?  Well, that clever Kathy has challenged everyone to take a little "me" time and just. color.....that's it!  Just spend some gloriously quiet time coloring your troubles away.....doesn't that sound wonderful?!  You can see all of the details here.

And hey.....have you checked out the latest Power & Spark Challenge on the Power Poppy blog.  That amazing Julie has thrown down a peach of a challenge.....you can read all about that here.

My card actually works for both of these challenges!  Lemme show you what I created.....

I have a serious crush on these darling bottlebrush trees from the Bottlebrush Holiday set so I thought I would do a quick color up and pair it with one of my all time favorite little sentiments from the Dynamic Duos: Glads and Gerberas set.  Since I was sending love, I thought why not make the card a postage stamp shape, so that's what I did!  A few simple layers, some stitching, a little sponging and my colored image now looks like a stamp...ready to send some Christmas love!  :)

I did add a little sparkle with my Atyou Spica clear glitter pen and then some shine with some Ranger Glossy Accents on the ornaments.  The papers are from a Graphic 45 paper pad that a dear friend gave me.  Don't you just love those little trees?!

Well, that is all for my card for today but there are beautiful cards a-plenty just waiting to inspire you so make sure you check out all that my sweet Bloomie sisters have created for you.  Leave a little love along the way....and a big hug to Kathy Racoosin for the inspiration too!   Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I'll be back soon with some new Power Poppy goodness to share.....Eeeeee!  :)  Until then, take care....

Power Poppy's September Power & Spark Challenge

Hello there and a very happy Friday to you!  How have you been?  It has been just plain hot and muggy here....I am SO ready for some cooler autumn temperatures!  Oh well, enough about that....I'll bet you popped in to see what Power Poppy goodness we have to share with you today, right?  Well, let me just tell you...I have been about to bust for September's Power & Spark Challenge to get here.  I have the honor of hosting this month's event and I thought it might be fun to highlight the sweet nature of paper crafters everywhere......

This month’s Power & Spark challenge is all about giving.  We all know the paper crafting community has some of the biggest, giving hearts around so let’s celebrate that with “Gifts from the Heart”.  Show us your creative ways of gift presentations or a hand crafted gift….or both!  Try stamping  your own wrapping paper, decorate your own gift bag or tag, craft a gift set of note cards....you choose how to show your art and heart for a special someone.  Even though the holidays are just around the corner, any time is a great time for gift giving so this challenge is open for any occasion.  We can’t wait to see what you create!

For my project, I could not decide on one idea, so I did three....:)!  I love giving little munchies as gifts....either for holidays or even for a "just thinking of you" kind of gift so two of my projects are munchie holders.  The third is a little glassine bag that I decked out....you could certainly use this for some sort of small food item but in this case I wrapped a gift card in it.  Here's a little group photo.....as you can see I went all out Christmas but remember, any occasion will be great for this challenge!  :)

Let's start with my jar project.  Who doesn't love cookies, am I right?  So how about some cookies in a jar!  If I had planned ahead, I could have baked something for the jar, but it just didn't work out that way so when in a pinch.....store bought works just fine and these pretty chocolate hazelnut Piroulines were just the thing for this quart size wide mouth Ball jar.  A little fabric, bow, and a tag finish this off and the whole thing came together super quick!  I stamped one of the images from the Joyful Arrangements set onto some patterned paper and colored it up with Copics.  I die cut it using a tag die from Papertrey Ink and layered it with a card stock layer to give it a little more weight.  I added a bit of patterned paper, some ball fringe, and a silver bell tied with string then applied Ranger's Glossy Accents to the berries and a couple of the words to give it a little shine and that was it....instant gift!

Here is a little close up of the tag.....

Next up is my little glassine bag.  Now, you may have already known this but I just discovered this summer that you can directly stamp on glassine bags.  I used Staz On ink to make sure there would not be any ink smearing and it worked great.  The poinsettia image on the bag is from the Poinsettia stamp set.  To mimic that image, I used the little poinsettia image from the Merry Littles set for my tag.  The sentiment is from the Bottlebrush Holiday set.  The tag is wrapped around with ribbon to make a little belly band so you can get in the bag without tearing everything up.  :)  My sentiment circle is a layered using Spellbinders Classic Circles Large set and Papertrey Ink's Limitless Layers  1 3/4" Circle die collection.  I sponged on some ink in Ranger's Iced Spruce Distress ink after stamping my sentiment then used my Krylon Silver leafing pen around the circle.  Next, I stamped, fussy cut and colored with Copics the little poinsettia and then added a dash of Wink of Stella clear brush pen for some shine.  I die cut a silver flourish using a My Favorite Things die and then die cut and sanded the pink houndstooth paper using Spellbinder's Labels Twenty Eight.  I adhered the whole tag assembly together using Scor tape and foam dimensionals then punched holes in either end for my ribbon.  To finish it all off, I tied a sweet little silver charm from Stampin' Up! to the tag and added some jewels to the sentiment circle.

Here is a different angle so you can see some of the layers.  The gift card is wrapped in silver tissue paper and the darling little white dots that were on the glassine bag really stand out more with that as a background.  I know you shouldn't have favorites, but this may be my favorite of the three.  Shhhhh....don't tell the others....;)

For my third project, I had a little Wilton treat box complete with a window that was just begging to be used.  I made a belly band for it with some trimmed strips of decorative paper then added a die cut from Spellbinders Belly Band One set and layered it with some Papertrey Ink Scarlet Jewel card stock and stitched it up.  I die cut the window using the Labels Twenty Eight die and just lookie what's in this box.....Lindor Truffles!  I thought the bottlebrush tree and ornaments would look so cute in the corner of the window so I stamped it out, colored it up with Copics and fussy cut it out.  I added plenty of sparkle with my Wink of Stella clear brush pen and then gave the ornaments a good coating of Ranger Glossy Accents.  I cut a couple of slits in the die cut with a craft knife and threaded PTI's Scarlet Jewel grosgrain ribbon to wrap around my box.  I added my fussy cut image last with some foam dimensionals and that was that!

Did you know that Lindor now has a Salted Caramel truffle?  Well I didn't  until the other day....and the wrapping color was a perfect match for the box!  Sounds like a totally legitimate reason to buy these, don't you think?  ;)  Here is a little close up of my treat box.....

So there you have it.....three gift projects for the holidays.  You could easily change the theme and use them for whatever occasion you wish.  I hope that these give you a little inspiration, but please make sure you check out what my incredibly talented Bloom Brigade sisters created for you.....I know you will love them!  Make sure you leave a little blog love while you visit and then why don't you join us and share your own gift giving creation?  All you have to do is link up your photo to the Power Poppy blog and you'll be in the running to win a prize!  How about that.....make a gift and then possibly win a gift....now that's a win-win situation for sure!  :)  I am so glad you were able to stop by today.  I so enjoyed hosting this challenge and I can't wait to see what you all create!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and until next time.....take care!

Ho Ho HO!

Hi there friends and Happy Friday!  Do you have anything fun planned for the weekend?  There will be lots of cleaning and unpacking going on around here this weekend.....we have just finished up some renovations around here and are finally moving back in!  Whew...what an adventure that has been!  Anyways....it's Friday and you know what that means....another Power Poppy Peep of the Week Challenge!

Are you up for a little challenge?  Why don't you c'mon and play along with us this week?  For my card, I decided to use one of the adorable sets from the Happiest Holiday Collection, Bottlebrush Holiday.  I used the "HO" stamp and also the sentiment stamp "Sending Holiday Cheer" from the set.....but, I only used a small portion of the sentiment stamp (two letters to be exact...lol).  I wanted a Ho Ho Ho card but I wanted the card size to stay on the small side so I used the "H-O" letters from the word "Holiday".  What do you think?

As you can see, I am trying out the CAS style again....channeling my inner Stacy Morgan, because I am still convinced one day CAS will become easier for me.....but not yet.  That girl does CAS style like nobody's business!  Oh well, there's always next time.  I added a little stitching "sampler" detail across the bottom of my image panel because it looked a little bare and needed something to kind of ground it.  I colored the main "HO" with copics and added a little sparkle with my Atyou Spica Clear glitter pen and added a little shine to the berries with some Ranger Glossy Accents.  A button in the center of the wreath adds a little something unexpected.  The rest of the card a few very simple layers and a bit of stitching.

I just love that sweet little wreath!  Ok, so that is all for my little CAnsS card....(Clean and NOT so Simple) card.  I wonder if that sweet Stacy could give me a few lessons....lol.  Make sure you check out all of the gorgeousness from my Bloom Brigade sisters and leave a little love along the way.  Then.....get cracking on your own Power Poppy masterpiece and link it up on the Power Poppy blog!  Maybe YOU will be the next Power Poppy Peep of the Week!  :)  Hope you have a great weekend and until next time....take care!
