Happy Power Poppy Friday~March 30th!

Hello there and welcome for another Power Poppy Friday!  I hope you have been doing well!  :)  I have a super quick post for today using Power Poppy's lovely Geraniums Take Two stamp set for my image and the Sunny Harvest stamp set for my sentiment.....

I started by stamping my image with Memento's Tuxedo Black ink and coloring with Copics.  Next, I used a die to cut out my image panel, stamped my sentiment, and tied on a bit of ribbon.  I stitched a couple of patterned papers together and adhered it to a card base.  After rounding the top corners, I adhered my image tag to my card.

Let me tell you about the near catastrophe as I was adding the last little bit of coloring to my image.  One of my red markers was drying out so I thought I would take a minute to refill it.  I zipped right along refilling my marker and as I was adding the top back to the refill bottle it squirted red ink everywhere.  I cannot tell you how thankful I was that my newly colored image tag was spared but I am pretty sure I am going to be sporting red fingers for a while!  :)  Needless to say, the clean up took a little while and I am still thanking my lucky stars that it was not as bad as it could. have. been.....whew! :)

So that is all for my card today, but a couple of my incredibly talented Bloomie sisters have some lovely inspiration to share with you so make sure you check them out and leave a little blog love while you are there.  Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope to see you around again soon...until then, take care!

Happy Friday with a NEW Power Poppy Power & Spark Challenge!

Hi there and happy Friday to you!  I hope this day finds you well!  I wanted to share a little card I made for this month's Power & Spark Challenge at Power Poppy.  Our hostess this month is the ever so talented, super sweet, and power house marathon runner, Cindy Lawrence!  Is there anything this girl can't do?  I think not....lol!  :)  You go, Cindy!  She has come up with an awesome challenge for us....just take a lookie......

Here is what Cindy says about her challenge:

The Happy Mail Challenge! How many times have you created a card only to have it sit in a basket waiting for that perfect occasion? This time, let’s flip that around and create a card with someone in mind and then, slap a stamp on that baby and put it in the mail! Keep in mind, we want this to be a card “just because.” Sure special occasions are important, but we want this one to be about simply sharing the love – not for birthdays or graduations or anniversaries—a “just because you care” kind of card for someone you’ve had on your mind. The challenge runs through June 30th at 8PM EST for a chance at a Power Poppy stamp set of choice. The Challenge kicks off Friday, June 3rd.

Now how fun is that?!  I am so guilty of not sending cards "just because" and honestly, aren't those the best kind?  So, I pulled out a set I haven't used in a while, Sunny Harvest, and went to work...

I even took my photos outside on my front porch this morning....it is supposed to be a sunny day today!  :)  I stamped my image with Memento's Tuxedo Black ink onto some Rustic Cream card stock from Papertrey Ink and colored it with Copics.  I added a little shimmer with my Wink of Stella Clear Brush pen and some shine with a  Sakura clear glaze pen.  After fussy cutting it out I set it aside and die cut the layers for my card using Spellbinders Marvelous Squares die set, more of the cream card stock and a bit of kraft card stock.  I added some trimmed layers in a chocolate brown to give a little more depth of color to the card base.  After sponging on  PTI's Chamomile, Chai, and Vintage Cream inks, I did some stitching, stamped my sentiment from the same set, assembled my layers, added the twine and then adhered my fussy cut image with foam dimensionals.

I just love this sweet sentiment and the darling bouquet of sunflowers was super fun to color.  Now, all that's left is to put it in an envelope, stamp it, and send it off to a sweet someone.....just because.  Thanks again, to Cindy, for such an awesome challenge!  Would you like to see some of the amazing creations my Bloomie sisters have created for your inspiration?  Well just hop on over to each one and make sure you leave a little blog love while you are there!  I am so glad you could stop in for a bit today!  I hope you have something fun planned.....as for me, I am going to enjoy this sunny day in  my yard by planting dianthus, coral bells, and hostas!  Until next time, take care!  :)

Power Poppy's August Blog Hop!

Howdy do to you and welcome back for the Power Poppy August Blog Hop!  Have you enjoyed all of the festivities this week? What a blooming extravaganza! All of this month's stamps will be available today!  Just to give you one last peek at these amazing sets, the Bloom Brigade has joined together for our end of the release hop, so let's get to it!  :)

For my card today, I chose to use the incredibly beautiful Chinese Lantern and Bittersweet image from the Sunny Harvest stamp set.  Be still, my heart.....these images are a-mazing!  I had never seen either Chinese Lantern or Bittersweet before so this was a real treat for me.....a little botanical lesson along with my crafting! After doing a little "field research" on these beauties, I got to work.  The stunning colors of these plants definitely pushed me in the "fall decorating" frame of mind....well, honestly I have been pining for fall for a little while (and football season....which you heard me whining about in a previous post) so I went with a fall theme complete with some die cut leaves.....

Have I said I am so ready for fall yet?  Well, I am.  So for my card, I stamped the image onto some newsprint patterned paper and colored with Copics directly on the designer paper.  What you are looking at is actually the second coloring, the first one was colored and die cut when I managed to smudge the heck out of it while finishing up my card.  I am choosing to look at it as an opportunity to change what I didn't like about it the first time around so I used a different die for my main image panel and I like it a lot better....it kind of reminds me of the shape of a real Chinese lantern.  Soooo, then I assembled my card panels using layers of card stock in cream and dark brown and patterned papers in a dark brown damask (which is pretty much covered up), dark brown gingham, and this awesome orange and red linen print.  Once all of the layers were inked or sanded or stitched or gold leafed (and let me tell you, there is a lot of gold leafing going on here-I definitely made up for not using it much lately) or a combination of all of the above the real dilemma started....accessorizing.  Normally, this is one of my favorite parts of the process (besides the actual coloring, of course) but I had a real dickens of a time deciding what to put on this card.  I finally decided on some die cut leaves but I added gold leafing to some of them for a little extra somethin' somethin'.

For my sentiment leaf, I stamped it first then ran it through my Grand Calibur with a wood texture plate and then I inked it up and attached some twine and a button.  For my image panel, I cut a couple of slits in it to thread my ribbon through, wrapped it around the largest card panel and tied it in a bow.  Next, I stuffed extra leaves here and there until I like the way it looked.  Finally, I attached my assembled card panel to my card base and added a little Ranger Glossy Accents on my berries and a little Wink of Stella Clear brush pen to my Chinese Lanterns.

Here is one more view so you can maybe see the layers a little better.  Seriously, Marcella's image is so detailed and unique and a complete joy to color up!  These are my favorite colors to use on cards and it is a real struggle for me to not make every card look like Thanksgiving!  Well, that is all for my card today, but you need to check out all of the creations from my incredibly talented Bloom Brigade sisters....they have been rockin' the house all week and I am sure today will be no exception!  Make sure you leave them a little blog love while you're there and then why don't you pop on over to the Power Poppy Shop and make these incredible stamps your own....you know  you wanna!  ;)  Thank you so much for stopping by today for a visit....it's always good to see you!  Be checking back, because I will have some more projects using these new sets to share soon.  Until then, take care!  :)
