Happy Power Poppy Friday!

Hi there and Happy Good Friday to you!  I can hardly believe that this weekend is Easter!  Spring is definitely making its presence known around here.....the dogwoods and azaleas in our yard are in full bud..it won't be long now!  For my project this week, I pulled out one of Marcella's new digital images Spring Meadow.....this beauty is the poster image of Spring time, don't you think?  :)  I decided to enlarge the image so I could make some really pretty tags.  I had recently purchased a gift and the store wrapped it in the prettiest gift bag and raffia....all it needed was the perfect tag, and what is more perfect that a Marcella floral?  I'll let you be the judge....

Yes, the bag is pretty....but just take a look at Marcella's lovely handiwork as a tag....I think it really makes it!  I went ahead and did a set of three because tags are so much fun and this image was even more fun to color!  :)

I colored all three tags with Copic markers and added shimmer with my Wink of Stella Clear Brush pen.  I also added a dash of Copic opaque white to get back a few of my highlights after I sponged the tags with Ranger's Distress Ink in Stormy Sky.

I used sentiments from Power Poppy's Bloomin' Wonderful, Planning for Magnolias, and Springtime Love stamp sets.  The ribbons and tag die are from Papertrey Ink.  The buttons are from Stampin' Up!  So that is all for my post today, but make sure you check out what my amazingly talented Bloomie sisters have created for your inspiration and leave a little blog love while your there!  I am so glad you were able to stop by for a visit today.  I hope you have a wonderful Easter and until next time, take care!

Happy Power Poppy Friday!

Hi there and a Happy Friday to you!  For this Power Poppy Friday post I used the darling little planner image from the  Planning for Magnolias stamp set.  I decided to keep the coloring very basic here and used a pink, white, black/gray color palette.

If you can believe it, not a single die was used on this card.  I stamped my image in the bottom right corner of my white card stock card panel using Memento's Tuxedo black ink and colored it with Copics.  Next, I stitched a strip of pink patterned paper to the left edge, punched some holes and added eyelets to mimic a page from a planner.  It had been ages since I had busted out the ol' Crop-o-dile!  :)  To finish the card off, I used a 3/8" corner rounder on the top right corner and stamped my sentiment from the same stamp set in Versafine's Onyx Black ink.  The finished card size is 4" x 5 1/2".  I did added a little shimmer and shine with my Wink of Stella Clear brush pen and some Ranger Glossy Accents to parts of the image.  Oh...you wanna know what happens when you decide to sand the edges of your card after stitching it?  Well, just take a lookie at the stitching on the edges of my card.  Yeah, obviously I didn't really think that through very well, but....I have decided it looks worn, like a planner, so I'm going with it.  Moving on.... :)  If you want to see a true testimony to the powers of the Copic Colorless Blender then take a look at the close up....

Right above the magnolia bloom you may notice the planner page looks a little dingy and the outside of the planner is a little dark.  While I was adding just a dab of C8, it blobbed on me and left a pea size black splotch on my card.  Trust me, you could've heard a pin drop.....I know we've all got our Copic horror stories but I have to say, the Colorless blender did not let me down.  It took several passes and in between each I allowed time to dry.  I decided to stop with what you see above and count my blessings that I could still use the card!  Whew!  So that is all for my card today, but several of my incredibly talented Bloomie sisters have done their crafty magic on some inspiration cards for you....make sure you leave them a little blog love while you are there!  Also, make sure you check out the newest Power & Spark Challenge hosted by the ever so sweet and CAS Queen Stacy Morgan....it's a goodie!  :)  Thanks so much for stopping by for a bit and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.....and for many of my fellow USA friends....happy "Springing Forward" this weekend for our time change. :)  Until next time, take care!

It's Another Power Poppy Friday!

Hi there and a very Happy Friday to you!  Do you have big plans for the weekend? I hope it includes a little crafty time.  :)  Today I have a card to share with you using Power Poppy's new set My English Rose.  I kept this card very simple in design so that big, beautiful rose bloom would be center stage....

I started by stamping my image with Memento's Tuxedo Black ink on to Papertrey Ink's Rustic White card stock and coloring it with Copics.  I ended up getting my rose a little on the dark side and tried to add some white highlights back in with a Faber Castell pen but it was a little low on ink so I made the fatal mistake of trying to just dab some white ink around with a sponge.....wrong move!  It whited out some of my detail and there was no getting that back so it is what it is at this point....sigh.  I went ahead and fussy cut my colored image out, added some shimmer with a Wink of Stella Clear brush pen and set it aside.  Next, I die cut my layers using Spellbinders Resplendent Rectangles die set and Papertrey Ink's Kraft card stock and also a bit of lined note paper from My Mind's Eye.  I used PTI's Fresh Snow ink to sponge around the kraft layers and then their Chamomile ink to sponge around the lined dp layer.  Then, I stamped my sentiment from the same stamp set using Versafine Black Onyx ink.  I sewed on a couple of buttons from PTI then assembled all of my layers on to my card base with foam dimensionals.  Lastly,  I used Collall to adhere my rose to my card.

I love all of the detail on this gorgeous Marcella image....just look at all of those layers of petals....and try not to notice the whited out details from my bad ink job....lol!  That is all for my card today, but several of my Bloomie sisters have created some pretty spectacular cards for your Friday inspiration.  Make sure you make the rounds and leave a little blog love while you are there.  Before I go, have you heard about the new Power & Spark challenge kicking off this month on the Power Poppy blog hosted by that oh-so-adorable Stacy Morgan?  Ooooo, this one's a goodie!

HOW TO PLAY:  The Peek-A-Boo is a special sketch challenge, where you create cut-outs on your card to share a snippet or give a “peek” of fun underneath! Stacy wants to let you know that even though the shapes in our sketch are circles, let your imagination flow and make them any ’ol shape you like! To prove this point, Stacy used hearts. Oh, she also wants you to use at least two panels as well, which makes sense with this peek-a-boo sketch!

Thank you so very much for stopping by today!  I hope you have a great weekend and until next time, take care!
