Power Poppy's May Stamp Release~Day 1!

Hello there and welcome for Day 1 of Power Poppy's Creative + Curious stamp release!  Today's post on the Power Poppy blog features the first two of eleven stamp sets being released this month.  Yes, eleven!  I just know there's a whole lotta happy dancin' going on right now!  ;)  Just take a lookie at the first two sets in Marcella's Mega May release....and say that really fast three times while you look....hee!

So for my card today, I chose to use the Poppy XL set.  Will you just get a load of that enormous bloom?  Let me tell you, I grabbed a fist full of Copic markers (actually, I believe it was two fist fulls....but who's counting, right?) and had the time of my life coloring this girl up!  I started by stamping and masking some of the images to give a layered effect.

After I finished coloring with my markers, I used a white pencil to add some highlights back in my image.  Next, I die cut the image and stamped my sentiment.  To give it an earthy feel, I sponged on some distress ink and spritzed some inks around.  I added some shimmer with a clear Wink of Stella brush pen and then gold leafed the edges with Krylon's 18 KT Gold Leafing pen.  Lastly, I adhered my image panel on to a card base that I layered with a bit of patterned paper.  And here she is....all colored up and ready to take her place in Marcella's bloom collection. :)

Did I mention that she was a blast to color up?  Well, it bears repeating.....truly, loads. of. fun!  Marcella put so many wonderful details in this image and the larger size means she fills up a card quite nicely!  Here's one last little peek at this amazing image...

So that is all for my card today, but you know those super creative Bloomie sisters of mine have some a-mazing cards to share with you today.....so make sure you check them all out and leave a little blog love while you are there.  I thank you so much for your visit today.  I hope you'll be able to pop back in tomorrow for Day 2 of Power Poppy's May stamp release....until then, take care!  :)
