Hi there and Happy Friday to you! Today I have a really quick post to announce the newest Power Poppy Power & Spark Challenge. The incredibly talented and super sweet card diva, Tosha Leyendekker, is our hostess this month and she has a pretty sweet challenge for us. Just take a lookie at this....
Here is what Tosha has to say about this challenge:
"I love vintage, so I often think of white and pink for Christmas decor. I thought it would be fun to feature pink on a Christmas Card. So, for this month's challenge, let's THINK PINK and make it a Pink Christmas."
Now doesn't that look and sound like fun? You can see all of the details on the Power Poppy blog. Now, I need to start this off by saying that I had in mind to make a completely pink card. As you can see here, things took a turn....as they often do in my craft room. I think it still qualifies, because clearly there is pink...just not quite what I had planned for this card! :) I used the small lenten rose image from the Heaven and Nature Sing stamp set and stamped it on to a die cut that I left in the die to give me a nice clean border. Next, I stamped the sentiment from the Wreaths Plain and Fancy stamp set. After coloring in my image, I sponged some distress ink around, added some shimmer and shine, and then added gold leafing around the edge. The rest of my card are some layers from white card stock and patterned papers. I assembled the layers together and that was that...a pink-ish Christmas card! :) Still not sure how I arrived at this finished card when I had in mind an all pink card....does that ever happen to you?
I love this sweet little lenten rose image and paired with the sprig of holly it makes such a pretty arrangement.
So that is all for my card today but some of my Bloomie sisters have some pretty awesome creations for your Friday inspiration so make sure you take a peek and would you leave a little blog love while you are there? We'd love it if you'd play along with us too! Link up your creation on the Power Poppy blog and you will be entered to win a prize! Yay! I'm so glad you could stop by today. I hope you have a great weekend and until next time....take care! :)

That is one beautiful flower. I love that it is not pink all over...I also enjoy the journey a card takes us on all by itself--sometimes it just knows best lol This came out beautifully!
ReplyDeleteOh, Katie, this is gorgeous, and I love the richness of your pinks in this amazing lenten rose! It's one of my favorite flowers at Christmas...well, next to the poinsettia that we have growing in our courtyard! Hehe! But truly, this is classic Katie with your amazing coloring and style! Love the dies and beautiful DP, and I always love the sponging in just the right spot and amount...along with the beautifully done gilded edges. Wow! What a beauty, sweet friend! You've done it again!! Big ole hugs, sweet friend...and enjoy the weekend coming up! xoxo
ReplyDeleteHey, it takes more than one shade of pink to make up the spectrum, and this is so totally gorgeous who could find fault? With Copics I oftentimes get darker and darker until I end up in a completely different place than I intended. Generally speaking, when I'm making a card I never really know where I'm going to end up. You went to a beautiful place with this one! There are so many PP stamps I want to color for Christmas, I can't possibly do them all, but this one is high on the list. A hugely inspiring card, Katie!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful miss Katie! I like the square framing, great hints of sparkle and oh your blooms look AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteYour card is just stunning and I would not change a thing as it turned out fabulous. I always seem to have an idea and then the paper starts talking to me and who knows where that goes. Love the sparkle and the flowers with amazing coloring. (Don't tell anyone that the paper talks to me.) :)
ReplyDeleteAck! You've done it again! LOVE how you left the die cut in the die and stamped. I really really like how that border looks. The rose and holly are a lovely pairing Katie. Such a sweet spirited little card. Hugs dear friend!
ReplyDeleteIt’s gorgoeus Katie...you always layer so expertly, and I like how beautiful pink”ish” it turned out! :)
ReplyDeleteSo sweet, love the gold touches you added.
