Hi there again, and here we are all gathered together for another Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge! I hope all of my US friends had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Did you eat plenty of turkey and get some nice rest and relaxation in? I hope so! Are you ready to find out about the challenge this week? Our hostess is our Guest Designer for the week, Kerin Sylvester! Kerin has challenged us to use stitching on our project. You can read all of the details here:
A challenge made just for me! I LOVE to sew on my cards! Well, let me rephrase that...I love to sew on my card when my sewing machine is behaving like it should. Unfortunately, that was not the case for this card. The tension was off (I think) and the stitching is not quite right. I decided to just go with it and add some random stitching passes to make it look a little more purposeful. You won't tell anyone, right? I am not the most knowledgeable person about sewing machines ( I would honestly be embarrassed to tell you how little I know about them) but I did not want to waste a perfectly good assembled card! Sooo...
My card template came straight from Silhouette's library.....they have some of the most adorable shapes. It came together really quickly and I used minimal supplies...mostly buttons! A bit of felt and ribbon add a little extra on my tag. I thought that the Christmas Cookie template would make an adorable shaped card and I knew just the sentiment to go with it...from Sweets of the Season. Another way to get some use out of your sentiment stamps...gotta love that too! Flourishes has such pretty sentiments, don't you think?
Now don't look too close at that stitching....remember, we are once again pretending that I meant it to be that way! ;) Have you noticed there is a lot of make believe in my recent cards....lol?! I think the little frosting swirls are so cute and isn't that sentiment perfect? Can you smell the Christmas cookies baking? I'll take two, please...and some milk! :) Well that is all for my card today. I am so glad you were able to drop by! Please make sure you check out what my team mates have created for you....it will be amazing, for sure! I would like to welcome our guest designer this week, Kerin Sylvester! You will be in for a real treat, I just know it! Leave these amazing ladies a little blog love and then come on and make a stitched creation and play along with us! I can't wait to see what you come up with! And like my card, I am wishing you all of the best this wonderful holiday season! I'll see you next time and I hope you have a great week!

ReplyDeleteSWEEEET JOB Katie!!!!!!!! Makes me want some cookies too!!!!!:) That is the FUN OF SEWING on paper!!! It DOESN'T HAVE TO BE PERFECT!!! :) Now, on a garment, that would be a DIFFERENT STORY! LOL :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks beautiful anyway! I love your shaped card.
ReplyDeleteI am no expert, but it appears that your tension is too loose. If the stitches come to the top, then the tension is too loose. I would look at your manual and see how it suggests you adjust it. I got rid of an almost brand new sewing machine because I never could get the tension set correctly. I now have one that is super easy to adjust. :)
I love the whimsical feel of your squiggles & buttons on this adorable card!! I am no pro at sewing on cards either, but this looks perfect as is :)
ReplyDeleteCute! Love that fun polka dot paper, all those buttons, and the white icing! Only, now I'm wanting a cookie and I'm on a diet! :# I think the stitching is perfect for this card. The card already has such a homespun feel, that perfect stitches might have looked too "dressy" here.
ReplyDeleteThere's not a thing wrong with that stitching GF. Bet I'd beat you on the non-sewing machine knowledge. hee hee Love the fun tree shape and I can almost smell the cookies in the oven. Adorable Katie! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteAwwww.... super cute! And I won't tell on your sewing machine! My son likes to play with all the dials on mine and I find I have a few cards that don't look exactly like I'd like them.. oh well! I still love it! Fabulous use of stitching Katie!
ReplyDeleteWay cute.... I think the loopy and loose sewing is PERFECT on this... just gives it a whimsical feel!!! And trust me, I know less than you about sewing machines and gave up... all I could make was a mess! This turned out adorable!
ReplyDeleteGreat save--no one would have known it wasn't planned! Darling card!
ReplyDeleteWonderful. It looks good enough to eat. What a yummy card.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! You crack me up! You do what I would do... why waste a perfectly good card you just assembled? You made this card beautifully!
