Hello again and welcome back for another Timeless Tuesday challenge! This week our hostess is the wonderfully talented Broni and she has challenged all of us to "Make a Splash"! Create a card or project using watercolor, water scenes, colors of water, etc. (FTTC226). You can read all of the details here. The new In Nature stamp set immediately came to my mind for this challenge. Those scenes are so pretty and they definitely fit the challenge so I stamped one of them on Flourishes Classic Ivory card stock with Memento's Tuxedo Black ink and pulled out my Copics. Ok, true confession time here...I started out this project with the mindset of doing this as a watercolor. The fact that you don't see that here probably speaks volumes...let's just say that it was not. that. great. I think I need a little more practice with that medium. It ended up in the circular file and I do believe it 'made a splash' when it hit bottom...lol! Soooo, here is my image colored in Copics...
I kept this layout really simple because I wanted the nature scene and sentiment to really stand out. This is a regular A2 card base from more ivory card stock. The sentiment panel was embossed using an embossing folder leaving some space to stamp my sentiment. I also scored around the edges to give it a little more subtle detail. A strip of patterned paper, dark brown layers and some ribbon finish this card off. I want to go to this place! :) Here is a close up...don't you just love that stamp detail?!?
Ok, so now you need to go check out all of the wonderful water inspired cards that my teammates came up with for the challenge....you are certainly in for a treat! While you're there, make sure you leave them a little love too. :) And after you do that, come on and upload your own creation for a chance to win a prize! I can't wait to see what you come up with! I hope you have a great day and I'm so glad you stopped by!

THUD!!!! Okay you have seriously got to get with me and Pat on a Saturday and show us your coloring skills girl. This is oustanding! Your sunrise behind the tent is gorgeous. This is outstanding!!!
ReplyDeleteI am seriously like the water theme since hubby is taking me away this weekend for my Bday to the sugar sands of Flo-ree-daa. You did a sensational job of blending those colors together Katie girl. Hmmmm I'll be passing near the Flourishes headquarters, wonder if I can pop in and buy stamps? :-) Gorgeousness my friend! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThis is truly gorgeous, Katie! I love your coloring!! The sunset, the trees and the watery reflections are a few of my favorite things!!!
ReplyDeleteKATIE! OMGosh, this leaves me speechless! The card itself is gorgeous, with the partially embossed panel and scored lines and that pretty dp and bow, but, Girl, your coloring on that image just steals the show!!! The sunset behind the scene looks amazing! And, you even added bits of yellow/orange to the trees and water! (I remember learning to color trees like that in the Copic class, but you took it up a notch here!) Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteholy cow girl! Stunning colouring. So realistic looking Katie! Beautifully done!
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing, Katie! I love all the fabulous watercolor looking details. I haven't had good luck with the water color thing either. I think you did a fabulous job with this. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scene!!! Makes me want to go camping :) (or rather glamping as I don't think my friend Arthur (arthritis) would appreciate a sleeping bag on the ground anymore :)
ReplyDeleteGood golly that's one gorgeous scene Katie! I love the glow of the setting sun on the horizon - stunning! Lovin' the simple back ground with your stripes and embossing. Simple one gorgeous creation this week!
ReplyDeleteWatercolor or not, it came out bee-u-tiful! LOL! I had started with that same scene using the watercolor medium and it too made a splash at the bottom of the circular file! You did a fab job with this challenge!
ReplyDeleteREGARDLESS of your not liking your water coloring, this came out FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!! LOOK AT YOUR COPICS TALENT!!!!!!!!!!!:) THIS looks FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!! LOOOOOOOOOVE the patterned paper you used, the stitching, the EMBOSSING!!!!!!!!! WHAT A FABULOUS CARD!!!!!!!!!!! :) (Your water coloring PROBABLY wasn't as awful as you think! :) )
ReplyDeleteYep, I'm playing catch up - for whatever reason Blogger does not like my i-pad and comments are impossible to leave. Finally on my computer so I can leave some love on your uber outstanding work here. Your coloring is over the top lovely, and then the BG paper and that EF - well all I can say is they perfectly compliment this design and layout. You can learn to perfect your watercoloring when you retire, stick with the Copics as you are rockin them.
ReplyDeleteKatie, this is GORGEOUS! I agree...your coloring is exquisite! And the sunset is spectacular! I love Copics myself, so I stay with it. And I can only continue to strive to color like this! Thanks for the inspiration! Made me put this on my wish list...getting it soon! Thanks so much for sharing your gifts with us!!
