Happy Power Poppy Friday with Power & Spark!

Hello there and a very happy Friday to you!  I hope you have been doing well.  :)  Today I have a card to share with you featuring Power Poppy's newest Power & Spark challenge.  The darling and incredibly talented Stacy Morgan is our hostess this month and her challenge is Mini & Mighty!  Yep.....just take a lookie at this sweet theme...

You can read all about this challenge on the Power Poppy blog.  OH, and hey.....did you happen to catch the news on the latest digital image?  You might recognize this beauty because it has been a very popular stamp image for a while and now you can own it as a digi!  Welcome Poinsettia & Pomegranates!

So, for my card today I kind of combined the two themes....a mini card with the poinsettia image.  I did use the Poinsettia stamp set for my card.

This mini card is a true mini....measuring in at a petite 3 7/8" x 2 7/8".  I just love making mini cards!  :)  For this card, I started by stamping my image on to cream card stock with red ink.  Next, I die cut out my image panel and added some gold leafing with my Krylon 18 KT Gold Leafing pen and some shimmer with my Wink of Stella clear brush pen.  I set my image panel aside and assembled my card base and layers, added a little stitching and then stamped my sentiment (from Power Poppy's O Holy Night stamp set) on to vellum and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder.  Lastly, I adhered my vellum sentiment strip, added some foam tape to the back of my image panel and adhered it to my card base.

I know it is shocking, but I did not color the image.  As you can see, Marcella's image is so beautifully detailed it is striking all on its own! :)

Now I ask you, is that not the most beautiful poinsettia image of all time?  Sigh, I totally agree!  :)  That Marcella really knocked it outta the park on this one, for sure!

So that is all for my little, and I do mean little, card today but several of my Bloomie sisters have some wonderfully inspiring cards for your Friday blog hop. Make sure you leave them a little blog love when you visit.  Thank you so much for stopping by today.  I hope you have a great weekend and until next time, take care!  :)

  1. Oh, my! I love this itty bitty bit of sweetness, Katie! It's absolutely darling, and I LOVE this poinsettia! What a beautiful card with the cross-stitched die and the (of course) gilded edges...I so love those. And I love the gold-embossed sentiment on vellum. I forget to use that, so thanks for that reminder. Beautifully done, sweet friend! Hugs and love! xoxo

  7. Marcella's drawings sometimes shine even more without coloring. You can really see her amazing detail. Love this in the red and gold with the pretty papers and vellum. The petite size lets the image take center stage, too. So gorgeous!
