Power Poppy's August Blog Hop!

Hi there and welcome back for the final day of blog hops for Power Poppy's August Release!  I hope you have enjoyed all of the release week festivities as much as we have enjoyed preparing them for you!  For today's card, I chose to use the Well Played set again but I paired it with a sentiment from the Good Thinking: Love Notes set for a punny little CAS card.  This is a real switch from my normal card style but my inner goof ball won out this time, so just bear with me here......;)

I have SO enjoyed playing with this set.  I thought I would try a CAS styled card again and use the little 45 rpm adapter thing-y's along with the adorable conversation bubble.  I started by die cutting a tag using white card stock. I stamped the adapters in two colors directly on the tag, and stamped and stitched the sentiment on to the tag.  After that I stamped the conversation bubble, fussy cut it out, colored it with Copics and added some Wink of Stella clear brush pen to the hearts.  Next, I used some Ranger Glossy Accents to add shine to the adapters and the hearts and let. them. dry.  For my background panel, I incorporated the a-mazingly talented and incredibly creative Tosha Leyendekker's genius record embossing technique to make a subtle 45 rpm record impression for a little texture using concentric circle dies.  You can see her card using this technique here.  Next, I die cut a rectangle panel out of the record embossed paper, brushed on some Wink of Stella Clear to the embossed ridges portion of my background panel,  and stitched the heart patterned paper on it.

Once my tag was dry, I added a bit of ribbon, baker's twine, and the conversation bubble then adhered it to my background panel.  All that was left was to adhere the assembled panel to a card base.  This finished card measures 3 5/8" x 5 5/8".

He's quite a smooth talker, isn't he?  Hee!  This is such a versatile set...there are tons of ways you could use the elements included...just let your imagination run wild, or silly, or whatever you choose!  Well that is all for my card today but the entire Bloom Brigade has joined up for this finale hop so you have lots and lots of amazing creations to enjoy.  Make sure you leave a little blog love along the way and then....it's time to go shoppin'!  YES, all three of these incredible sets in the Color Me Grateful collection are available today in the Power Poppy store!  Yay!  Thank you so much for stopping by today, I always enjoy your visits.  I hope you have a great weekend and until next time, take care!  :)

Power Poppy's August Release- Day 2!

Hey there Soul Sisters!  :)  Did you enjoy Power Poppy's Day 1 Release of the Color Me Grateful collection? Well  just hold on to your head phones, 'cause today's release is going to have you reminiscing about good times for sure!  Let's take a peek at Well Played...

Bringing back fond memories?  I had a boat load of those 45 rpm adapter thing-y's but I would be hard pressed to find one of them now.  When I saw that darling little back pack and the "soul sister" sentiment, I knew right away that I would be using them first!  Not too long ago, Matt and I went to a Train concert and so I thought it would be fun to play off of their song, "Hey, Soul Sister" for this card.

I started by inking up the back pack in Memento's Tuxedo Black in and stamping on to Papertrey Ink's Rustic White card stock.  I colored the image with Copics and fussy cut it out.  Next, I rummaged through my embarrassingly large 6x6 paper pad collection to find just the right paper....I spotted this darling bordered print from My Mind's Eye's "Dolled Up" pad but the 6x6 size was throwing things off.  To keep the border all the way around, I cut the paper in half along one of the plank seams then overlapped it to a 4" width and sewed a double seam along the plank pattern.  Next I trimmed a bit off the top and bottom and went around with a zig zag stitch.  The card size ends up being just a hair under 4" x 5 1/2".  I adhered this panel to my card base and then die cut out a couple of sheets of the ledger patterned paper from My Mind's Eye's "The Sweetest Thing-Tangerine" pad using a Papertrey Ink's Spiral Notebook Page die.  For my letters, I used another paper from the "Dolled Up" paper pad and Papertrey Ink's Block Alphabet dies.  I went over the letters with my Wink of Stella Clear brush and then coated them in Ranger's Glossy Accents and set them aside to dry.  Once dried, I assembled all of my pieces and fiddled around with them until I liked the arrangement, stamped the sentiment, then adhered everything down and attached the assembly to my card.  For a finishing touch of shine, I added some more Ranger Glossy Accents to the walkman window and the cassette tape window, a bit of Ranger Stickles in Cotton Candy to the little heart patch on the back pack, and a touch of my Atyou Spica Clear glitter pen to the buckle and zipper pulls.

Don't you just love all of the little details on this back pack?  It was so much fun to color!!  And you should see the other fun elements to this set....I am sure you will spy several of them along the hop today.  So are you tappin' your foot or hummin' a snazzy tune yet?  :)  Make sure you check out what all of my incredibly talented Bloomie sisters have created for your little hop down memory lane today and leave them a little love while you're there.  I hope you will be able to pop back in tomorrow for Day 3 of Power Poppy's August Release...and brace yourself for more Marcella bloomin' goodness!  These images will have you positively swooning!  Until then, take care!  :)
