Our Timeless Tuesday Challenge this week is...
"Make a Good Impression" - Incorporate dry embossing somewhere on your card or project. It could be an embossing folder, stencils, or even a household item for your embossing....just make sure you "Make a Good Impression"! (FTTC237)

Ok, now that we have all of the details down, let's get to the challenge today...I am the hostess this week, and as stated above, I am challenging you to "Make a Good Impression"!  Here is my card for this challenge using the awesome new Holiday Topiaries set...

My image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black on to Flourishes Classic White card stock.  I colored my image with Copics then fussy cut it out.  My sentiment panel is more white card stock die cut with Spellbinder's Classic Square die and embossed on the lower half with a large polka dot pattern using a Lifestyle Crafts embossing folder.  I stamped my sentiment from the same Holiday Topiaries set in red ink,  added some gingham ribbon and matted it using some red card stock.  More layers were added using some green card stock and green polka dot patterned paper.  The polka dot paper is embossed with another Spellbinders square die and I sanded it a bit for a little detail.  The card base is die cut from a Spellbinders Square Swatches die.  Here is a closer look at this adorable new topiary stamp...

Coloring this little image couldn't have been easier.  I'll even give you a little tip....you can color the entire tree with your lightest color green then go back with your darker greens and add random dots in between the leaves....it really gives you some dimension and makes those detailed leaves really pop.  Then add your red dots for berries and call it a day!  I did add some Ranger Glossy Accents on the berries to give them a little extra shine.  Seriously....just few minutes and you can have this tree all colored in....simple as that!  Here are the Copic Color Combinations I used....

I hope you found some inspiration here to create your own dry embossed project, but make sure you check out all of the designers' blogs....and prepare to be "Impressed"!  Don't forget to link up your project for a chance to win an awesome prize!  I can't wait to see what you create!  Until next week...have a great one!

Flourishes' Timeless Tuesday #236

Hi there everybody....I know... long time, no post for me.  Things have been pretty hectic around here lately and unfortunately, there has not been a lot of crafting time to be had.  I finally got in my craft room over the Labor Day holiday for a little card making time...it was so good to just color for a little while.  Anyways, I put together a card for the challenge this week.  The incredibly talented Jenny is our hostess and the theme is "Double Wrap"(FTTC236)...sounds intriguing, doesn't it?  You can read all of the details about this awesome challenge here.

For my card, I decided to make it a sympathy card because unfortunately, I needed one, and also because I have not had a chance to get this beautiful stamp set inky yet.

I stamped my image from the Calla Lilies set with Memento Tuxedo Black on to a Spellbinders Rectangle die cut from Flourishes Classic Ivory card stock.  I also stamped an extra image to cut out two of the blooms and one of the leaves.  I colored everything with copics, sponged on a little Ranger Iced Spruce Distress ink and edged it with a Krylon Silver Leafing Pen.  Yes, Silver!  I have strayed out of my Gold Leaf box into silver territory.  I know I will love this one as much as the gold one!  I kept the card really simple so the image would really stand out.  And if you can believe it....there are the two ribbons for the challenge and not a single bow anywhere.  I really wanted to put a bow on it, and I tried, but I never could get it to look right, so in the end I just left it the way I have it here.  Things were not going my way today....I tried to sew a zig zag around my patterned paper's edge, but it ended up in a tangled mess so I had to start over.  I did not want to risk it again since that was the last piece of that dp I had, so I left it alone.  I am not sure what is going on with my sewing machine...I guess lack of use lately...lol.  I used a few glue dots to adhere my fussy cut blooms and leaf to give the image a little dimension and added a couple of black layers on my panels.  I had to use glue dots instead of my Collal because my Collal was pretty dried up.  I discovered there is a crack in the cap which I guess allowed part of the tube to dry up.  I wrestled with it for a little while, then decided it was taking too long, so I just went with the glue dots.  Grrrr.  For my card base, I used an embossing folder from Lifestyle Crafts to give it a little texure.  It is a basket weave pattern.  Here is a close up so you can see the detail is these gorgeous blooms....

Not sure if you can see the texture from the embossing folder in there, but I promise...it is there.  Oh, I did add a little sparkle to the stamens of the lilies with my Atyou Spica clear glitter pen.  I love the subtle shimmer it gives.  So, despite all of my craft room obstacles, I finally managed to make a card!  Yay!  I hope you will be able to play along with us this week!  As always, you can win a prize and your chances go up if you use Flourishes stamps!  So come on!  Also, we have a new Guest Designer with us for September.....Kathy Roney!  I have seen some of Kathy's beautiful work before, so I know we are all in for a real treat this month!  So glad to have you with us, Kathy!
