Sweet Friend for JustRite Stampers

Happy Easter!  I hope everyone had a wonderful day with family and friends.  I have a little card to share today.  This is for the JustRite Stampers' Friday challenge # 093 to make a card celebrating Spring and tell what Spring means to you.  When I think of Spring I think of blue skies, fresh green leaves, and brightly colored flowers.  You can check out the challenge details here.  So, I picked a blue green color and a red.  The colors felt a little vintage-y to me so I played that up a bit.  I used the beautiful Resplendent Rectangles dies and also Labels Four and  Wonderful Wings dies from Spellbinders. I did very little stamping on this card... just the sentiment and the label.  The label was colored with Copics.  I glittered up the butterfly with Crystal Snow from Stampendous and embossed one of my layers with the Petals-a-Plenty folder from Stampin' Up!  I used ALOT of Chamomile ink from PTI to distress everything, added some twine, a button, and some pearls to finish it off.  This is a little outside my "normal" for cards but I really wanted to play around with these gorgeous dies that I recently purchased.  I really do think Resplendent Rectangles is my new favorite.....have I said that before?  Lol....I believe I have!  Anyways, hope you have a great rest of the day (or evening) and I'll be checking in soon!

Doggone It...

Hello there!  Happy Saturday!  I know I certainly am glad for a little time in my craft room today!  I was issued a challenge today by some of my stamping friends to make a masculine card.  That certainly is a challenge because most of my cards have flowers on there somewhere.  After going through some of my stamps, I finally decided on this Great Dane from Inky Antics.....now, if he isn't masculine, then I don't know what is...lol.  I stamped him on Flourishes Classic White cardstock, colored him with Copics and fussy cut him.  Next, I made some panels using My Mind's Eye Breeze-Lost and Found Two collection.  I used some various colored card stock to layer with and stitched the layers on the sewing machine.  I used a couple of Spellbinder dies from the Large Ovals and Deckled Large Ovals sets.  Finally, I popped the sentiment and colored image up with foam dots and added some studs from TPC Studio.  I had so much fun making this card and it was such fun to play cards with my stamping buddies!  Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and a very blessed Easter.

MIA

Hello there!  There has been a lot of time between now and my first post.  After much research and reading on how to set up a blog, change a header, apply a background, and all of the other stuff that goes along with it, I think I am ready try another post.  Whew!  It would be an understatement to say that I am not computer savvy....lol.  Please bear with me as I learn this process as I go.  For now, I have a few cards to post.  I recently went to my not so local scrapbook store and brought home a few goodies to play with.  My first card is one I made for a challenge on JustRite Stampers' blog.  I have admired their stamps for a while and was finally able to make a card with one of the sets.  The stamp set I used was Grand Sentiments.  I also used a new die set from Spellbinders called Resplendent Rectangles.  I can already tell this is going to be a regular for me....love it!  For my card, I simply die cut a few of the rectangles in  Flourishes' Classic White cardstock and one in the green polka dot print from a My Mind's Eye 6 x 6 pad.  I stamped my sentiment then stamped, colored with Copics, and fussy cut some flowers and added them to the sentinment and assembled the card.  I added a few rhinestones and some Stickles to finish it off.

My next card is one I made using the new Flourishes Tulips for Friends stamp set.  I cannot begin to tell you how much I love this stamp set.  Those tulips are gorgeous and it was so much fun to color them!  The card is a very basic layout using a few stitched layers of dp from My Mind's Eye, some Midnight Muse card stock from Stampin' Up!, and Flourishes Classic White card stock.  I used a Spellbinders square die for my image and a Papertrey Ink Tiny Tags die for the little tag.  I finished it off with a bit of Very Vanilla ribbon from Stampin' Up!, and button and twine from Papertrey Ink.  The edges of all panels were distressed with Papertrey Ink's Chamomile ink.

My last card for tonight is another one using the Tulips for Friends stamp set.  I just couldn't help myself!!  I used another Spellbinders die set, Timeless Rectangles, for this card.  I have found that when I color with Copics,  I tend to go towards the softer color tones and I really wanted these tulips to be more vibrant soooo....HELLO tulips!  These definitely came out brighter and I really like them!  It is outside of my norm but I am going to try to color more images this way!  For the card I used some dp from a My Mind's Eye 6 x 6 paper pad and some rhinestones.  I fussy cut this vase of tulips and I don't mind sayin' it was a bear to cut out....probably because I don't do a lot of fussy cutting....another thing to try more often!  So, here is my final card:

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend and hopefully I will be back soon with another card to share.
