Happy Power Poppy Friday~March 16th!

Hello there and happy Friday to you!  How have you been?  It's been a little bit since my last post.  I am so happy to share a card I made for Power Poppy's Friday post using their amazing Azalea stamp set.  I can never thank Marcella enough for creating this stamp set!  I have been inspecting our azaleas in the yard and I am happy to report that there are lots of buds!  To get me thru until then, I thought I would color up some of Marcella's azalea blooms.

I used a stitched square die for my image panel, stamped the image with Memento's Tuxedo Black ink and then colored it up with Copics.  Next, I added some gold leafing around the edges with a Krylon 18KT gold leafing pen.  Lastly, I adhered the image to my card base layered with a bit of patterned paper.

Red azaleas were always my Daddy's favorite.  We have lots of azaleas in our yard in pinks, whites, and purples but we also have one red azalea.  It was actually there when we bought our house a number of years ago, but I like just having the one....kind of like a special one just to honor him, don't you think?  :)

So that is all for my card today, but some of my Bloomie sisters have some beautiful cards for your Friday inspiration.  Make sure you leave them a little blog love while you are there!  And hey, if you haven't seen Power Poppy's latest digital stamp release....you really need to check it out!  You can see all of the details here.

I thank you so much for your visit and I hope to see you again soon.  Until then, take care!  :)

  1. It’s a beauty Katie! You always bring these blooms to life! I bet the red ones you have are real showstoppers. I would be so excited to see all the buds on the trees too.

  2. Hi Katie!
Love, love, love how this image turned out and the beautiful coloring work! I’m wondering if the W series Copic markers are the ones you used around the image of the flowers to give it depth? Thanks for sharing.

  3. The majority of ours are purple/pink ones although I do have a red bush in the front corner. All of them are ancient. This is truly lovely Katie. Your coloring and card design are always so perfectly matched.

  4. Mouth wateringly gorgeous coloring, Katie! I love how you make the smaller cards to really show off the stamp. Sweet and petite and the perfect designer paper to go with it. My azaleas don't all bloom at the same time and I'm sure yours don't either, but that would be spectacular! Thankfully, the deer didn't eat any of them this winter. Last winter they wiped out four of them. I rescued two and moved them. Maybe only one of those will amount to anything. They're my only red ones. I do think it's sweet that you keep only one red just special for your dad.

  5. Wowzer, Katie! This is gorgeous, and your coloring is so exquisite and brings these stunning azaleas to life! How dear that you have the single red one to honor him...so sweet and tender! Don't we miss our daddies? Sigh. But truly, I agree with Leslie that we all love our small cards that really make the images you color be the "main thing" and love your gilded edges. Simply beautiful and perfectly framed with the black. I love it all, sweet friend! Hoping your weather continues to warm and things bloom beautifully! Love and hugs! xoxo
