Power Poppy's November Release Day 2

Hi there everybody!  Did you enjoy Day 1 of Power Poppy's November Release?  Well, hold on to your hats because there is a whole lot more in store for you this week!  And how about that sweet news of Marcella's....aren't they the most adorable couple?  I cannot wait to see what all of her wedding plans inspire her to create, can you?  Well, while we think about all of the possibilities, why don't I show you what she has created for you today?  Marcella is continuing her Happiest Holiday collection this month with four more offerings.....

and today's will certainly be a favorite.....O Holy Night.

This is one of the sweetest images I have seen Marcella create.  Small country churches hold a special place in my heart because my grandfather was a minister at a small rural church....treasured memories from my childhood, for sure!  I had such a wonderful time coloring up this beautiful image...

I kept the card simple in design to show off this beautifully intricate image.  I used my Copics in Warm Grays for the church, and then colored in my trees and sky.  I added some Tulip Slick fabric paint and glitter on the trees and roof for a little dimension.  I then layered my image panel with blue gingham paper, and some other die cut layers from SU! Natural White card stock.  My card base is some navy card stock from my scrap box.  I used another die cut to show off one of the lovely sentiments that come with this set and added a few pearls.  A little Ranger Distress ink in Antique Linen sponged on to the edges gives this a little age and finishes it off.

Doesn't that look like the most wonderful place to be on Christmas Eve?  That Marcella.....I am thinking there is absolutely nothing that she can't draw!  I know this will be a set that I will reach for again and again....not only for this gorgeous image but also for the lovely sentiments and scripture that comes with this set.  Go ahead and put this one on your list.... :).  Well, that is all for my card today but as you can imagine....my Bloom Brigade teamies have been busy and I am sure that today's hop will be a stunning display.  Make sure you leave these lovely ladies a little love while you are there.  I will be back tomorrow for Day 3's darling set....until then, take care!

  7. Katie, you've done it again... this time with O Holy Night. You've made the O Holy Night card to end all O Holy Night cards. I run out of superlatives when it comes to commenting on your cards. I will say that I can tell how much you get into your art when you're creating. You really step into it and feel it and, therefore, each creation is a masterpiece straight from the heart. I didn't know your grandfather was a country minister. I can see how this image would evoke such lovely memories. I love how you did the sky on this, and those strokes on the trees. Your layers and that bit of gingham and your sponging are all so pretty. I have to keep scrolling back up and looking at it.

  8. Is it OK for me to just say "Ditto what Leslie said"? That seems like cheating, but boy is she ever right. Seriously, Katie. It is so obvious that you are feeling the image, you are all up in that thing experiencing the shadows and the highlights and coddling that little church with such care... I was thinking as I examined how you treated the coloring on the evergreens, how neat it is that you brought out such a special detail in your first experience with this stamp, and how expertly you pulled it off. The whole card is just divine, and as Leslie says, it's so obvious that it is from the heart, as your creations always are. Thank you, also, for the very kind words about my work. You humble me! xoxo MWAH! ~m
