Hi there! Have you been enjoying the Power Poppy festivities this week? Have you already taken advantage of being able to get your new digi images as soon as they come out? Oh, I hope so! I am so happy to be able to share my card with you today....another gorgeous Marcella botanical! So feast your eyes on this lovely image....
I know, right? Sheer gorgeousness and I cannot tell you how much fun this was to color! So let me show you what I created using this beauty...
I started by resizing my image to fit the dimensions I needed for my main panel, printed it out, then die cut it using a square die. Then I colored my image with Copics. Next, I put my image panel back in the square die and sponged on some Ranger Distress ink in Antique Linen and edged it with my faithful companion, the Krylon 18KT gold leafing pen....I know, I am back on the gold kick again! Then, I die cut some more layers with squares and some dies from Spellbinders' lovely Captivating Squares set . I used burgundy, mauve and white card stock and then a bit of patterned paper. I assembled my layers using foam dimensionals for some to pop them up and that was that. I left this card sentimentless, which is something that I used to never do, but I am getting a little more comfortable with it. I can leave it plain or I could go ahead and put a lovely sentiment, like the one that comes with this digi, on the inside. I like having a few "all occasion" cards in my stash so this one will stay without a sentiment on it.
I absolutely love this image....the detail is amazing and the way that Marcella draws these images with shading cues, makes coloring them a joy. These are colored like the ones that are about to pop in my mother's flower bed.....there is nothing like beautiful peonies! Marcella actually has a little post over on the Power Poppy Blog about peonies that you should check out. Well, I hope that you are feeling inspired but don't stop here....please check out what my fellow Bloom Brigade team mates have created. I just know that you will love the gorgeous floral display created just for you! Remember, this is a digital image so you could have this in your inky little fingers today with a few clicks of a mouse and a few key strokes....just sayin'! :) Take care and I'll be posting again on May 1st for the Power Poppy Blog Hop! Hope to see you then and thanks so much for stopping by today! :)

I have never been crazy about digitals, but I have to say, I have loved the two I have already purchased from powerpoppy. They are easy to use, and love that option of being about to size it to the size you need. This is a gorgeous card.
ReplyDeleteOh, Katie! You can stay on the "gold kick" forever, as far as I'm concerned! It's delightful! And this card is a piece of art, so I agree about not putting sentiments on cards like this one! It's so stunning with your coloring and with the beautiful dies that showcase this beautiful flower! Totally LOVE it, sweet friend! Hugs! (LOL! I already purchased it! Did that first before looking at anyone's cards -- I KNEW they would be fabulous!)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, this is stunning, Katie - real depth of colour and shading, and it's framed gorgeously! Fabulous layers!
ReplyDeleteYour coloring is out of this world Katie! Oh my, this is stunning! I love the decorative matting and the gold leaf for extra elegance!
ReplyDeleteKatie - you’ve given these peonies a real rich regal feel! So beautifully done.
ReplyDeleteKatie this is so pretty. I am loving the gold. I have not used gold in forever. It gives it a rich and polished look. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGASP!!!! Oh Katie... you always make me swoon girl. Your coloring is outstanding. I adore the layers of the square and your gold is awesome. Don't stop please... other than to send me a picture link of what this silly pen is. I can't seem to find it? Its probably me, you know that. But serious!!! I need a link sweetie! :-)
ReplyDeleteKatie, Katie, Katie. . . I want to print out a picture of your card and hang it on my wall. You don't mind, do you? What can I say? This is the very definition of stunning. Gorgeous colors with the dark and light mauve. Beautiful framing with the dies, and, of course, your signature gold leafing is the perfect finish. Wiping my chin and moving along. . .
ReplyDeleteI got a good laugh reading Leslie's last sentence (she smiles). The rest of the comment rings so true. Katie, it isn't just your skills at being one of the best colorist I've seen, it's the design layouts you frame those beautiful pieces on. Honestly, each one has it's own beauty as well. Together they are a work of artful beauty that have no need of sentiment attached to the front of them - everything that needs to be said is.
ReplyDeleteYou're killing me girl! Oh my gosh the layering is amazing on this one. I would buy that set of dies and never understand how to put them together like this. You are a master designer. I know I've told you that before but it's the truth. :-) The peonies are delish! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely STUNNING!! Your peonies are decadent works of art!! And your framing highlights their elegance beautifully!! WOW!
ReplyDeleteWow... you have colored these peonies up to perfection -- look at that depth?? This one is a definite keeper!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Gorgeous coloring and framing!!
ReplyDeleteI swear when you do flowers they takes my breath away.....love these peonies and the way you have framed them. Yowza Missie!!!
